Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) is a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene. It has a good thermos-stability, high chemical inertness, low friction coefficient, excellent air aging resistance, high impact strength, and vapour penetrating resistance.
FEP is very similar to polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in terms of its chemical inertness, dielectric characteristics, coefficient of friction, and high-heat resistance. FEP is majorly used in high speed wire insulation, cable jacketing, extruded film, blown film, sheet extrusion, tubing, heat shrinkable tubing, catheters, molded parts, and equipment and pipe linings.
The thermoplastic process techniques such as extrusion, compression, transfer molding, and injection can be used to fabricate beneficial products from FEP.
