Global Agriculture Microbials Market, By Type (Bacteria, Fungi, Virus and Protozoa), By Application (Cereal Grains, Fruits & Vegetables, Oilseeds & Pulses, and Rest (Crops)), - Global Forecasts to 2020
Agricultural microbials are the products which made from microorganisms which occur naturally in the environment such as bacteria and fungi. Many of these microbes have distinctive properties that can work alone or complement traditional methods of plant production and protection. They also supply nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus to plants. Agriculture microbial are usually applied to the seeds or sprayed on crops and can help to control fungi, bacteria, nematodes, insects and weeds. They can also stimulate plant growth and yield by improving access to nutrients. Microbial products offer real benefits to growers, like improving nutrient uptake, promoting growth and yield, and providing insect control and disease protection.
The high frequency of crop diseases and rising demand for food in developed as well as developing nations is primary driver for the agriculture microbials market. Use of microbials helps the farmers to increase the production by protecting his produce from pests and enhances the nutrient transportation process of the plants, thus improving crop yield. Environmental protection laws in the U.S. and Europe are major drivers encouraging the use of agricultural microbials in these regions. The market is expected to expand in Asia Pacific due to the economic growth. North America, followed by Europe, is anticipated to be the largest market for agricultural microbials due to stringent regulations requiring environment-friendly means of agriculture and rising demand for organic food in the region.
The Global agriculture microbial Market is competitive market, with firms such as Syngenta AG (Switzerland), Bayer CropScience AG (Germany), BASF (Germany), Dow Chemical Company (U.S.), and Monsato (U.S.), among others which are expanding their market share globally. Companies operating in this market aim to generate innovative solutions in order to meet the changing need of the consumers and these companies also invest heavily on research and development of new microbial products with the anticipated bright prospects for this market.

Bacterial Biopesticides The most widely used bacterial biopesticides are Bacillus thuringiensis (also known as Bt), which comprises 90% of the Global Bacteria PIP market. Each strain of this bacterium produces a different mix of proteins, and specifically kills one or a few related species of the insect larvae. While some Bts control moth larvae found in plants, other Bts are specific for the larvae of flies and mosquitoes. The target insect species are determined by whether the particular Bt produces a protein that can bind to a larval gut receptor or not, thereby causing the insect larvae to starve. Other popular bacterial biopesticides are Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens. |
