In November 2013, JSR Corp. signed a joint venture agreement with Hungarian petrochemicals firm MOL Group, to manufacture solution polymerization styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) in Hungary. This new JV will have the production capacity of 60,000 tons per annumthat will help the company to increase the butadiene production capacity, and capture an additional market share. The company has also signed another joint venture with Bangkok Synthetic (Thailand) to produce S-SBR, which has the production capacity of 50,000 tons per annum. In addition to this, in November 2013 Lotte Chemical established a joint venture with Versalis, to produce S-SBR (solution styrene-butadiene rubber) and EPDM (ethylene propylene diene rubber) in Yeosu. The resulting plant has the capacity of 200,000 tons per annum. The company has also signed a joint venture agreement with Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), and Ube Industries, Ltd. (Ube Industries) for production and sale of PBR. The new JV is established in Malaysia and it has the production capacity of 50,000 tons per annum.
