ER-YAG-laser is a type of solid-state laser that utilizes erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet as the lasing medium and emits lights that has a wavelength of 2940nm. This wavelength is absorbed by water as it falls into the infra-red spectrum.
ER-YAG-lasers are mostly used for ablative laser skin resurfacing, such as acne scarring, deep rhytides, and melasma. Moreover, the ER-YAG-lasers are useful to cut bone and tissue, in laser dentistry and in other surgical applications. ER-YAG-lasers directly hit the surface of human skin and work excellently to repair minor to moderate scarring and other skin damages.
